Official opening of new runway and seaplane terminal at Velana International Airport (VIA) - MATI
The operations of the new Code-F runway at Velana International Airport commenced on 6 th October 2022 andin a special ceremony attended by the Vice President Hon. Faisal Naseem was held to mark the occasion. This is a groundbreaking event in the history of Velana International Airport and in the aviation history of Maldives. We are sure this will have a major impact on tourist arrivals and help to develop the tourism industry.
The Noovilu Seaplane Terminal at Velana International Airport was also inaugurated by the Vice President, thereby bringing all the seaplane operations under one roof, that will no doubt greatly enhance the passenger experience. These infrastructure developments at VIA will also help accelerate the growth of economic developments of our nation.
